Pay Transparency: From Regulatory Obligation to a Genuine Transformation Opportunity

Modjo Consulting was pleased to participate in a breakfast discussion at Jeantet law firm, dedicated to a topic that has become essential for businesses: pay transparency.

As the European directive's transposition approaches, this meeting brought together HR decision-makers and experts, united by a common conviction: pay transparency cannot be approached solely from a legal or technical perspective. It represents a profound transformation for organizations, with direct impacts on HR practices, management, social dialogue, and corporate culture.

Alongside Caroline André-Hesse (Social Law Partner at Jeantet), the discussions were led by Camille Vaton, Vincent Maire, and Rodolphe Delacroix (SharePlus).

Three key takeaways emerged from the discussions:

  1. Anticipate operational impacts now
The directive goes far beyond new reporting obligations. It questions the consistency of remuneration policies, the robustness of evaluation criteria, managers' ability to explain discrepancies, and organizations' maturity regarding equity issues.
  2. Make transparency a human and managerial issue
Making remuneration visible can become a powerful lever for trust and engagement, provided it is accompanied by clear communication and consistency. Without sufficient preparation, the risks of misunderstanding, tension, or loss of trust are real.
  3. Consider pay transparency as a full-fledged transformation
Like any transformation, success relies on the ability to bring managers and employees on board, clarify rules, align practices, and create the conditions for lasting adoption.

At Modjo Consulting, we believe that organizations that approach this topic solely from a regulatory compliance perspective will miss out on a major opportunity for positive transformation.

When well-prepared, pay transparency can become an accelerator for equity, trust, and collective performance.

Many thanks to all participants for the rich discussions and valuable feedback shared throughout the morning.
